Coat/game closet organization tips

First thing with any closet it to get rid of items that are too small or that you don't use any more. Just by freeing up space any area will look neater than it did before.

When you live in climates like I do we experience it all! With hot sunny summers, to feet of snow in the winter you end up owning a lot of diverse clothing. One of the ways I combat this from becoming a big problem is having drawers in my coat closet.

One for hats, one for gloves, one for scarves. This has saved hours of searching for lost gloves over the years.

The next way I control the accessories is hat clips.

I have this in my laundry room. I switch out hats depending on the seasons. Since I store some hats in the closet I thought I would put this tip here.

I have our coats separated mine on one side, his on the other, with kids in the middle.

This is our only closet in a shared living area so it is where I keep all of our games also.

Stacking these vertically, not horizontally saves in space and the pain of pulling a game out from under other games and them all falling on your head.

The smaller card games I keep in these plastic shoe boxes to keep them contained.

I also store my vacuum and carpet cleaners in here. For easy access.

I think I will be adding my large carpet cleaner too.

All closets can be places where random stuff is dumped. By taking everything out of areas like this it helps you to become more aware of what is in there when you put it back instead of just cleaning around it all.  The bottom of this closet was getting so clogged and I moved some items to better places around our home.

Quick and easy areas like these help me to get a bit of a break while spring cleaning while also progressing forward and getting it done!

To see me continue my spring cleaning follow me on Instagram @_countrysparkles_ where I will share lots of stories and the progress as I move through my home. I also am linking this challenge with the hashtag #springcleaningdoneearly if you want to follow along I would love to see you, or even better use the hashtag on your progress so I can see!
