Traveling with a stroller and double stroller comparison

Do you have little kids and are wondering what to expect while traveling with a stroller? I know I sure had a lot of questions when I first traveled, so here are the answers that I learned through experience. There will be a lot of Disney stroller tips in this post along with other places we have traveled.

First of all there are very few places that you can't take a stroller.

One of those places is in Disney in the ride lines, in the restaurants and some stores. for these places I strapped my baby into a carrier to save my arms. The days were so long that I did not want to carry him the whole time, if I had I can't imagine how sore my back and feet would have been. Especially since they were killing at the end of every night already! There are stroller parking spots all over, some are more convenient than others for sure. But be sure to utilize these or else you will be hunting your stroller down after a cast member has moved it to a designated area.

NOTE: Disney now has stroller size restrictions, research these before you go.

When we go to Vegas it is also common to not bring strollers into the restaurants, there is normally a parking spot right inside the door to keep the isles open. But I was able to walk everywhere with my stroller, through the casinos, stores, and hotels. There are so many awesome things to look at in the hotels and casinos for kids. In the casinos you can't stop and say talk to an employee (learned from experience) or watch someone gambling but you can meander through the cool air conditioning all you want.

Taking strollers on airplanes is so easy too, you DON'T even have to check them! You can take them through security and right up to where you get on the plane! this is a life saver when you have some time to kill or are in a rush so you don't have to carry your bags and babies at the same time. The first time traveling I did not know this and was so nervous about how I would be able to pull a juggling act. My husband told me about this amazing perk and I was not so scared any more!  All you do is walk it up to the plane entrance over the air bridge then take your kids out, fold it up and leave it there. The flight attendants store it for you and pull it back you when you land and it is waiting for you as you get off. Easy peasy!

When traveling try to bring strollers that aren't too bulky or too small, both will give you problems.

If they are too bulky that means they are heavy and can get in your way more often.

If they are too little like umbrella stroller they don't hold up to loads of walking very well (like at Disney). Wheels fall off, or get bent. These are normally super short so you are hunched over all day leaving you with a super sore back. Trust me if you will be doing a lot of walking like at a theme park you want to prevent getting extra sore as much as possible.

Ideally you should look for a stroller with
- a good size double wheel, this helps to not get stuck in cracks in the ground or getting caught on other things which also extends the life of your stroller.
- a seat belt so your kid isn't jumping out every second especially if they aren't used to riding in a stroller.
- a basket underneath so you can stash food and extra water, this also relieves your back so you don't have to carry it all day.
- a sun shade, I really like the ones that you can push all the way down so even if the sun is directly in front of you then your child is still protected.
-taller handles that are a good height for you so you aren't hunching over all the time.

Now on to double strollers here is a video I made comparing a side by side stroller to a stadium seat kind. You can definitely tell which one I prefer but in different situations both are very handy.

There it is, I prefer the side by side
1. Both kids can see well.
2. Easy for kids to get in and out of.
3. Easier to turn.
3. Bigger wheels which make pushing so much easier.

Do you have any tips that I didn't mention? Or questions I didn't answer? Let me know in the comments!
